How to Commission a Pet Portrait

Commissioning a pet portrait is a wonderful way to celebrate your furry friend. To ensure the best results, start by providing a good, clear photo of your pet. Aim for a picture taken in natural light, as this will capture your pet's true colours and features. Avoid harsh shadows and bright spots by taking the photo outdoors or near a window. The ideal angle is one that showcases your pet’s personality, so consider their favourite poses or activities.

Choosing the Right Photo

When selecting a photo, ensure it is high-resolution and well-framed. Close-ups that highlight your pet's eyes can create a more engaging portrait. If your pet has unique markings or expressions, make sure these are visible in the image. If you have multiple photos, consider sending a few options to give the artist a better understanding of your pet’s character.

Progress Photos

Once you've commissioned the portrait, it's a good idea to request progress photos from the artist. This allows you to see how the piece is developing and offers an opportunity for feedback. Artists often appreciate constructive input, which can help them align the final piece more closely with your vision. Regular updates can also enhance your excitement as you watch your pet’s likeness come to life.

Final Thoughts

By providing a good photo and engaging with the artist during the process, you can ensure that the final portrait beautifully represents your beloved pet. Enjoy the journey of commissioning a piece of art that will be cherished for years to come!
